Melinda Bryan, Director

Our Director, Melinda Bryan, PT, has 25 years of practice experience with broad expertise as a Registered Physical Therapist, Certified Pilates Expert and Principal Master Teacher Trainer. Her background in dance and sports medicine makes her uniquely qualified to treat performers and athletes of all types.

Melinda has lectured nationally on the topic of performing arts medicine and is one of the first to use innovative Pilates techniques to help patients increase strength, flexibility, and endurance during rehabilitation. She has trained with the top Pilates masters such as Romana Kryzanowska, Corola Trier, Kathy Grant and others.

Melinda is sought after as the Pilates fitness consultant by Hollywood’s most elite celebrities and stars. As owner and director of Performing Arts Physical Therapy and The Pilates Studio of Los Angeles, she teaches and certifies fitness professionals from all over the world with her traditional time tested authentic Pilates system. Melinda’s combined knowledge in both the medical and fitness fields effectively helps all of her clients improve the quality of their life.

Melinda has appeared on popular TV shows and in numerous magazines, including The Today Show, Leeza, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar, Allure, Rosie, Ms.Fit, and Los Angeles Times. Her centers' team of therapists and instructors keep performing artists in shape and injury free. They provide on-site service for many dance companies and Broadway theatrical productions in Los Angeles, including Phantom of the Opera, Sunset Boulevard, Guys and Dolls, The Producers, and Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Aida, The Lion King, Drowsy Chaperone, Dirty Dancing, and The Color Purple. Keeping with the tradition of being a leader in her field, she has created the first Pilates for Pregnancy and Pilates After Pregnancy fitness video programs. Anna Saunders, Doctor of Physical Therapy, B.S. Classical Ballet

Dr. Anna Saunders is a 2003 graduate of Indiana University, with a B.S. in Classical Ballet Performance. She had the unique opportunity to study abroad at Madrid St. Louis University in Madrid, Spain while pursuing her dance degree. Anna is a member of the Pasadena Dance Theater Company as a soloist. In 2006, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree. She has been part of the PAPT staff since 2007 and has assisted with the delivery of onsite theater physical therapy for Broadway productions, including The Color Purple at the Ahmanson Theater. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science. She is currently pursuing certification in Pilates and Cardio Barre.


Cynthia Bornia, Certified Pilates Instructor, Certified Yoga Master, Reiki Master

Cynthia is experienced in Breathwork, Kundalini yoga, Anusara yoga, Tantric yoga, Reiki Healing, Crystal Healing, Pilates, Ballet, Jazz & Modern Dance. She has practiced yoga for 20 years and meditation for 33 years. Cynthia has a plethora of experience in yoga including, Master's Touch Kundalini Yoga Intensive Training with the Master of Kundalini, Yogi Bhajan, 2003, and has worked at the Summer & Winter Solstice Retreats for Kundalini & Tantric Yoga since 2001. She travels extensively nationally, and internationally, to learn from original Kundalini Teachers taught by Yogi Bhajan.  Cynthia is a Reiki Master Level Attuned, 2004 and received her Anusara Style Yoga Training with Anthony Benenati at City Yoga in 2005. She completed her Pilates Certification Program at The Pilates Studio of Los Angeles 2007. Cynthia joined the PAPT staff in 2007.

 

Roger Segura, Licensed Massage Therapist, Physical Therapy Aide

Roger, a former professional soccer player, came to PAPT in 2008 after having over 17 years experience working with the physical therapists and physicians of Santa Monica Orthopedic Group, treating players from LA Galaxy, US Women's and Men's Soccer, other international players, and even a United States President. He continues to work alongside the medical staff of the US National Soccer Team and Chivas International Soccer. Roger is a CA state licensed massage therapist, husband, proud father, and musician.


Myara Sherwood, BFA, Dance, Certified Pilates Instructor

Myara graduated in 2002 with a B.F.A. in Communication and Dance from Emerson College. She received her Pilates Certification in 2006. She is an experienced writer for fitness magazines including, Fit Magazine and Spa Magazine. Myara has studied GST® Body Technique, and she is currently pursuing a nutrition certification. She joined the PAPT Pilates staff in 2006.


Kara Conn, PT Aide

Kara is a Certified Physical Therapy Aide. She joined the PAPT staff in 2011.
